Privacy policy

Last updated Placeholder: [DATE]

DraftThis page is being reviewed and will change before launch.

The short version

  • Your notes are private. Only you can see them. Our team only looks at them if you report a problem and give us permission.
  • We never train AI on your notes or conversations. That includes Revisia’s own AI and any provider we use.
  • We don’t record your voice. Speech is turned into text as you talk and the audio is thrown away. The text is kept in your session history until you delete it.
  • You can delete anything, anytime. Deleted files and sessions are gone straight away. Deleting your account removes everything else, apart from the billing records the law makes us keep. Backups clear within 30 days.
  • We never sell or share your data, and we don’t use it for advertising.
  • Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

The rest of this page explains each of these in more detail.

Who we are

Revisia is run by Placeholder: [COMPANY NAME] (company number Placeholder: [COMPANY NUMBER]), Placeholder: [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. We decide how your data is used, which makes us the “controller” under UK data protection law. Our ICO registration number is Placeholder: [ICO REGISTRATION NUMBER].

Questions about your data: Placeholder: [privacy@revisia.example].

What we collect

Your account

  • Your first name, so Revisia can use it when you talk.
  • Your email address.
  • Your password, stored scrambled (hashed) so nobody can read it. If you sign in with Google, we get your name and email from Google instead, and no password.

Payment

Your card is handled by our payment provider, Creem. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a record of your plan, your payments, the last four digits of your card and your postcode.

What you study with

  • Notes, slides, syllabuses and other files you upload.
  • What you type in chat, and the text of what’s said in voice sessions.
  • What Revisia creates for you: flashcards, practice questions, session summaries and your progress across topics.

Your voice

When you talk or record a lecture, your speech is sent to Groq and turned into text as you go, and Revisia’s replies are sent to OpenAI to be read aloud. Revisia never stores the audio.

Technical information

Basic information our servers need to run and stay secure, such as your IP address, browser type and when you logged in. We keep these logs for Placeholder: [RETENTION PERIOD].

How we use it, and why we’re allowed to

What we doWhy the law allows it
Run your account, voice sessions, chat, flashcards and progress trackingTo provide the service you signed up for (contract)
Take payments and email your receipt and trial reminderContract
Keep billing recordsThe law requires it (legal obligation)
Keep Revisia secure, prevent misuse and fix problemsOur legitimate interest in running a safe service
Send emails about changes to your account or these termsContract

We don’t use your notes or conversations to improve or train AI, and we don’t build advertising profiles. We will never send you marketing emails without asking first.

AI providers

To answer you, Revisia sends the relevant parts of your notes and conversation to Anthropic. We only use providers whose contracts say they won’t train on your data and won’t keep it beyond what’s needed to answer.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of companies to run Revisia. They act only on our instructions, under contracts that protect your data:

  • Vercel and Supabase: stores the app and your data.
  • Anthropic: generates Revisia’s answers (see above).
  • Groq: turns your speech into text, for voice sessions and lectures.
  • OpenAI: reads Revisia’s replies aloud in voice sessions.
  • Creem: takes payments.
  • Placeholder: [EMAIL PROVIDER]: sends receipts, trial reminders and account emails.
  • Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google.

We never sell your data or share it with advertisers. We’ll only hand data to the police or a court if the law requires us to.

Where it’s stored and how it’s protected

Some of the companies we use may store or handle your data outside the UK. When they do, we use the safeguards UK data protection law requires. Your data is encrypted when it travels between your device and us (in transit) and when it’s stored (at rest). Only the people who need access to keep Revisia running have it. They can’t open your notes unless you report a problem and give permission.

How long we keep it

  • Files and sessions you delete: removed straight away.
  • Your account: kept while it’s open. Deleting it removes your notes, sessions, flashcards and progress.
  • After your plan ends: your notes, sessions, flashcards and progress are kept for 24 months, in case you come back. We email you 30 days before deleting them.
  • Backups: deleted data clears from backups within 30 days.
  • Billing records: kept for 6 years after the payment, because UK tax law requires it. These hold your name, email and payment details, never your notes or sessions.
  • Security logs: Placeholder: [RETENTION PERIOD].

If you’re under 18

You need to be 13 or over to use Revisia. Revisia is designed with the ICO Children’s Code in mind:

  • Settings are private by default.
  • There are no public profiles and no ads.
  • Nothing is shared with other users.
  • We don’t use your data to profile you.

If you’re a parent or guardian with a question about your child’s account, email Placeholder: [privacy@revisia.example].

Your rights

You can:

  • See the data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that’s wrong.
  • Delete your data. You can do most of this yourself in the app.
  • Get a copy of your notes, sessions and progress to take elsewhere.
  • Object to how we use your data, or ask us to limit it.

Email Placeholder: [privacy@revisia.example] and we’ll reply within one month. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We only use the cookies Revisia needs to work, such as the one that keeps you logged in. Essential cookies don’t need your consent, so there’s no cookie banner. If we ever add anything else, such as analytics, we’ll update this page first and ask you where the law requires it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we’ll email you before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
